A GREEN FOOD PARTY is as easy as making dinner. Just plan green food for one of your meals around St. Patrick's Day and that's it! This post has some ideas to get you started!
One of our favorite (and EASIEST) traditions for St. Patrick's Day is having a GREEN FOOD DINNER. My little leprechauns look forward to it every year.
For some reason they LOVE LOVE this!
One year I did an I'M SO LUCKY party which was super fun too. But sometimes we are busy and so I like to just do green foods for a meal around St. Patty's day. So just make green food for dinner, and your kids will love it (plus a lot of green foods are healthy).
Remember KEEP IT SIMPLE. It's okay to go with canned or pre-packaged items.
One great thing about a Green Dinner on St. Patrick's Day is there are tons of healthy foods (especially fruits and veggies) that fit into this idea.
Add a little fun with some simple extras if you want. Nothing fancy here, just green paper plates, clovers, and some leprechaun hats. All from Dollar Tree.
Here's some GREEN FOOD IDEAS:
Apple Jacks cereal
Apple Sauce (colored green)
Celery (we love "Ants on a Log")
Cucumbers (see recipe below)
Honey Dew Melon
Key Lime Yogurt
Key Lime pie
Milk (colored green)
Mint Ice Cream
M&M's (pick out green or get mint)
Pasta Noodles (put some food coloring in water as you boil it)
Pears (certain kinds)
Sour Cream and Onion Chips or crackers
Sugar Popcorn (See below)
Green Salad Wraps
Mint Oreos and green Peeps
Oh, and don't forget all the herbs--Basil, Cilantro, Chives, etc
You can also do RAINBOW FOOD or GOLD FOOD:
Fruit Loop Cereal
Lucky Charms cereal
M&M's (all colors)
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
