I am excited to share with you this super fun way to make easy DIY t-shirts! I saw this idea going around and I had to give it a try because it looked so simple. All it takes is a white t-shirt, Sharpie permanent markers, and rubbing alcohol to make your own fake tie dye shirt! I LOVE how simple this is! Sharpie tie-dye shirts are the way to go next time you need to craft a cute t-shirt.
These DIY Sharpie tie-dye shirts are easy enough for kids to make themselves (with some supervision) and they are fun because you can be as creative as you want.
Here's what you need:
A plain white t-shirt
piece of cardboard
Sharpie permanent markers
Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
Small empty spray bottle (I reused a body spray bottle)
Place the cardboard inside the shirt so it separates the front and back side. This will keep the ink from running through to the other side.
Draw a design on your t-shirt with the permanent markers. Leave a little space in between each design as they colors will run together if too close.

Fill small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray all over the ink design.
The ink will start to run and spread. The more you spray the more the ink will spread. The alcohol dries quickly and will stop the spreading as it dries.
Let your shirt dry completely and then you can wear it right away!
When you wash your shirt for the first time, the colors may run a little, so wash with clothes that won't have a problem with this. Also, the colors will fade some with washing.
And that's it! What a fun craft for kids to make this summer . . . or how about some cute 4th of July t-shirts?
